way to heaven
It is the time of Mahatma Buddha. In those days, some special rituals were performed to allow the soul to enter heaven after death. What used to happen was that some small stones were put in a pitcher and after performing puja, havan etc., it was hit with some metal. If the pitcher broke and the stones came out, it was considered a sign that the soul had passed away. She has been freed from her sins and has got a place in heaven.
Since the pot was made of clay, in this process the pot would always burst and the soul would go to heaven and in return for doing so, the pundits would take a lot of donations. After the death of his father, a young man thought why not try to purify the soul. For this, the help of Mahatma Buddha should be taken, he would definitely know some other better and sure way to take the soul to heaven. With this thought he reached before Mahatma Buddha.
“O Mahatman! My father is no more, please suggest some solution to ensure that his soul finds a place in heaven,” said the young man.
Buddha said, “Okay, do as I say… You bring two pitchers from those scholars. Fill one with stones and the other with ghee. Take both the pitchers to the river and submerge them so much that only their upper part is visible. After that, recite loudly the mantras taught to you by the pundits and finally hit them from below with a hammer made of metal. And after doing all this, tell me what you saw?”
The young man was very happy. He felt that through this process told by Buddha, all the sins of his father would definitely be erased and his soul would reach heaven.
The next day the young man did exactly the same and after doing everything he appeared before Buddha. “Come son, tell me what you saw?”, Buddha asked.
The young man said, “As per your instructions, I threw stones and pitchers filled with ghee into the water. As soon as I hit the pitcher containing stones, the pitcher broke and the stones drowned in water. After that I attacked the pitcher containing ghee, that pitcher also burst immediately and the ghee started flowing in the direction of the flow of the river. ,
Buddha said, “Okay! Now go and tell those pundits to perform such a puja, yagya, etc. that those stones start floating on the water and the ghee settles on the surface of the river. ,
The young man was surprised and said, “What are you talking about?” No matter how much worship a priest does, a stone can never float on water and ghee can never settle on the surface of a river!”
Buddha said, “Very true, and it is exactly the same with your father. Whatever good deeds they have done in their life will take them to heaven and whatever bad deeds they have done will pull them to hell. And no matter how many pujas and rituals you perform, you cannot change the results of their actions even an iota. ,
The young man had understood Buddha's words that there is only one way to go to heaven after death and that is to do good deeds while alive.
